Developing Confident Young Muslims
Success Clubs is a unique programme that is designed to empower children to take charge of their own learning to develop self-worth, self-confidence and a strong faith identity as a Muslim.
Children will take part in blended learning with six online sessions and practical tasks to ensure that their development is a daily ritual in between sessions. This is because we want to ensure that every child who takes part, uses their learning to make a practical change. We will be using an online app to keep children engaged and use it as a tool for healthy competitiveness.
Parents will also be involved in their child’s development and will be given specific guidance to support. They will also have access to their child’s progress via the app.
Parveen really enjoyed the first session and said it made her feel good about herself. She practiced 2,4, 6 and loved the information about being unique like a butterfly 🦋 and a snowflake ❄️
Overview
The programme will help young people to explore who they are – their self-identity – what’s important to them, how they can make the right decisions in life based on what they discover, and how to stay motivated to bring about change; within themselves and to the world around them.
There will be activities and fun-filled challenges specifically designed to inspire, and enable each and every young person to uncover their unique core values, abilities, and develop greater self-confidence to eliminate family, school and life stress, while simultaneously showing them ways to express themselves confidently. It will also help them to make important life-decisions and pursue educational and career paths that they are passionate about, which serve them.
Each participant will receive worksheets that they will complete during and in-between sessions.
Core Elements of the Programme:
I Am – Sessions one and two look at self-worth and being positive
I Can – Sessions three and four looks at personal skills and future aspirations
I Will – The last two units look at children identifying their values and ‘supporting characters’
My son yesterday actually asked to do work related to your session. He hardly ever initiates like this.’
Why should your child participate
Many families are experiencing a great deal of uncertainty these days.
Will schools reopen? For how long?
Is homeschooling an option?
Is the second wave of the quarantine coming?
A lot to think about and to…worry about.
The COVID lockdown has indeed affected the self-worth and confidence of some children. Through this programme, we will help children turn the times of uncertainty into empowering, resilience-building experiences. It is our aim to help each child improve their emotional, mental and physical well-being before they go back to school. We also want children to be confident young Muslims, and be proud of their faith identity.
Parents/carers will also be involved in their child’s development and we will be using the S.T.A.R process to encourage ongoing involvement and support.
Fatima was positively beaming after the session – she was initially apprehensive about joining. She loved the tasks and is already looking forward to the next session. Fatima has also highly recommended the class for Dawud
